The COVID-19 pandemic brought drastic changes to daily routines, impacting physical and mental health. University students, faced challenges related to physical activity and body image perception. The objective is to understand the impact of social isolation on physical activity and body image perception among physical education students, identifying factors associated with changes in physical and mental well-being. A qualitative descriptive-analytical study involving 65 students from a public university, using online questionnaires and content analysis according to Bardin (2011). Clinical, behavioral, and subjective variables were analyzed to identify significant patterns. There was a sharp reduction in physical activity, with 53.85% of participants showing prolonged sedentary behavior. Overweight/obesity prevalence reached 46.16%, and sleep disturbances worsened for 30.78% of students. Qualitative reports highlighted the role of physical activity as a form of self-care despite the challenges. The study shows that social isolation exacerbated sedentary behavior and body dissatisfaction but also demonstrated students' resilience in seeking physical activities to promote well-being. It is suggested to implement educational policies that encourage hybrid physical activity practices and psychosocial support programs.
