Abstract

Lack of hardware and software equipment is still a challenge for the use of information and communication technologies in Brazilian schools and, therefore, this study seeks to discuss whether the use of learning objects by students grouped in pairs can be a viable strategy for promoting teaching practices with these digital resources. The methodology used was the action research and the data were collected during activities realized in a computer lab of a public school in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The data collection involved three 1st year groups and three 2nd year of elementary school and occurred over a school year. The results indicate that the use of learning objects enables students' behavioral and cognitive engagement in performing activities and that there is no significant difference of performance between students who worked in pairs and those who were alone. Thus, grouping students into pairs can be an alternative for the best use of available resources.
