Active methodologies are teaching-learning strategies based on simulated or real problematization of professional practice, so that the resident reflects, analyzes and decides on the situation, showing active involvement in their training process. The objective of this study was to describe the contributions of active methodologies in health residencies. This is a descriptive study, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, developed with 56 preceptors of a multidisciplinary health residency program in Belém-Pará. An electronic questionnaire was applied, and the responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Bardin Content Analysis. The results revealed that through the use of active methodologies in the exercise of preceptorship, residents develop autonomy, protagonism, critical and reflective reasoning, highlighting the importance of this strategy in the teaching-learning process.
