Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) involve dysfunctions in the heart and blood vessels, with acute myocardial infarction being particularly significant due to its high potential for morbidity and mortality. This condition is influenced by diet and lifestyle habits. Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of nutritional status, dietary habits, and their relationship with the lipid profile of patients hospitalized in a reference public hospital in the Amazon. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted between September 2023 and 2024 with adult and elderly patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Results/Conclusions: A total of 107 patients were analyzed (71.96% men, 28.04% women, 57.94% adults, and 42.06% elderly). Among the adults, 43.55% were in eutrophy, while 55.55% of the elderly patients were in eutrophy. A positive correlation was found between total cholesterol/LDL-c and foods rich in sugars and saturated fats, as well as between HDL-c and foods containing monounsaturated fats. The study identified nutritional inadequacy, low consumption of protective foods, and high intake of saturated fats and simple carbohydrates.
