In the context of contemporary society, permeated by technological influence, the relevance of teaching English as a mandatory Lingua Franca from the 6th Year of Elementary School curriculum stands out. In this sense, the insertion of the language is also discussed in the first years of this stage of basic education. The general objective of the research was to investigate the inclusion of the subject in the Elementary School I curriculum series, considering the historical and normative context, exploring the advantages and challenges faced by the country's reality. The research was carried out due to the need to problematize and investigate the effectiveness and equity of teaching English to children aged 6 to 10.
