The space allocated to women in Amapá's television journalism

Authors

Abstract

This article presents reflections on the presence of women in Amapa journalism by analyzing two prominent local broadcasters, Rede Amazônica and Grupo Equinócio de Comunicação. To understand the space occupied by female journalists, we analyzed two newscasts from each broadcaster. Additionally, we conducted semi-structured interviews to hear the perspectives of women in the job market. We found that Amapa television journalism is heavily male-dominated, with field reporting being the most common role occupied by women. In both broadcasters, there is limited space for women in leadership and representative positions, such as news anchoring.
