Abstract

American Tegumentary Leishmaniasis (ATL) is a parasitic disease endemic to the Amazon and is considered a public health problem worldwide. With the aim of investigating the epidemiological indicators of ATL in an endemic population in the Amazon from 2012 to 2022, a descriptive ecological study with a quantitative approach was carried out, with spatial analysis of cases reported through the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). A table was created with several pathology variables, and a heat map was created with the incidence of cases by municipality. ATL affected: men, aged 20 to 39 years, brown people, low level of education, the most common form was cutaneous, clinical-laboratory diagnosis was more used and in the majority of cases, a cure was achieved. It is necessary to strengthen control and prevention strategies, through health education programs and professional training.
